There are several events going on in southern Illinois this weekend. The Carterville Free Fair has a rich history in Williamson County, dating back 105 years. For the first time in the event's rich history, live pro wrestling is part of the fundraiser. Stride Pro Wrestling will invade the Carterville Community Center for the Free Fair Face-Off.
Of course, I'd love for you all to come out and support this cause. It is a fundraiser for the Carterville Lions Club. They are selling tickets for the show, $10 for adults and $5 for kids. With the threat of rain and even flash flooding in parts of the region this weekend, the chances of outdoor events being very, very wet are very, very high.
If you find your weekend plans getting washed out, you don't have to be bored at home. Instead, I'd encourage you to back the Lions Club and come out for some unique entertainment. Stride Pro Wrestling is a family friendly event. There's no excessive violence, cussing or lewd behavior. The wrestlers on the roster train hard and give 100 percent in the ring. I couldn't be more proud to be a part of this group.
So don't let the rain ruin your weekend. Doors open at the Carterville Community Center at Cannon Park at 6 p.m. Bell time is 6:30 Saturday night. Be there!
