Championship rematches signed

Last month, Stride Pro Wrestling crowned two new champions. Jay Spade shocked the world by beating Roger Matheus in a Last Man Standing Match. Chris Hargas also ended Tony Flood's Legacy Championship reign. Both Matheus and Flood had been strong, dominant champions. It's only natural each man receive their guaranteed rematches as soon as possible.

Spade has a lot to prove still as the heavyweight champion. Critics have said he's not "big enough" to be the company's top guy. I've argued in past blog posts and podcasts that it's not just the size of the wrestler involved, but the size of his heart and drive. By that measure, Spade may never lose the gold.

However, I know Matheus is seething since dropping the belt. While I don't know personally, I'd have to say he's the hardest hitting athlete in Stride Pro Wrestling. Even knowing him for nearly two years, he intimidates the hell out of me. He will throw everything at Spade or anyone else for that matter to get his championship back.

Flood clearly wants his title back too. He helped shape the Legacy Championship and the division as we know it. Whether on the mic or in the ring, few can compete with Flood. But Hargas had an outstanding 2017, winning this championship along with the first-ever Buried Alive match and the SICW heavyweight title too. Both men are the real deal with years of experience. No doubt their rematch will be as thrilling as their initial encounter.

Come out for the action and the kickoff of the Stride Cup Tournament. Matches are set for Saturday, January 13 at the Illinois Star Centre Mall in Marion. Bell time is 6:30 p.m.
