I've lived in southern Illinois for quite a while, but for some reason I've never had a chance to visit the Big Muddy Monster Brew Fest. That changed today (Saturday) as my buddy and fellow Craftbeerican Tom Harness attended the event.

Dozens of brewers (mostly from around Illinois) had their beers available for sampling. The event is a huge success and I enjoyed trying things I wouldn't normally check out. Our friend and home brewer, Doug Brinkley was on hand with members of the Southern Illinois Brewers. Doug's creation Harness Lager placed first in the home brew category.

One of my favorites from the event comes from Abbey Ridge Brewery and Tap Room. Their Welsh Keep is top notch. There were a variety of chocolate stouts on hand too which I've not had a whole lot of but enjoyed. The IPAs still remain low on my list.

The Dude & Walter
The Big Muddy Monster was on hand as were "The Dude" and Walter from The Big Lebowski. It was a great day to spend the day. Cheers to all and check out The Craftbeericans for future updates.
