Wrestling Under the Influence: Brew Free or Die & Abe Lincoln

By Kevin Hunsperger @kevinhunsperger & @my123cents on Twitter Listen to the podcast  Follow my blog with Bloglovin

To be honest, this Wrestling Under the Influence is inspired by good ol' Abraham Lincoln. I'm drinking 21st Amendment Brewing Company's Brew Free or Die Blood-Citrus IPA and discussing the 16th President's contributions to the world of pro wrestling.

Allegedly, Honest Abe is in the Wrestling Hall of Fame. Whatever the case may be, this is a great beer. Take a look at the video and don't forget to subscribe.

Wrestling Under the Influence: Go Go Radio & The Iiconics

By
Kevin Hunsperger @kevinhunsperger & @my123cents on Twitter Listen to the podcast  Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Based on the can art for Logboat Brewing Company's Go Go Radio Stout you might think I'd pair this beer with something related to outer space in wrestling. In all honesty, my original plan was to talk about Max Moon.

However, after reading the funny quote on the side of the can and learning this beer is about two separated alien friends, I could only do one thing. Talk more about a tag team that was split up way too soon. That's where the Iiconics come in. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce were a fine duo in WWE and should still be teaming together today. Let me know what you think of this video and the other content on my channel! Thanks.

Kevin Hunsperger @kevinhunsperger & @my123cents on Twitter Listen to the podcast  Follow my blog with Bloglovin

It's a step way back in time for this week's Wrestling Under the Influence. I'm trying Lizard King Pale Ale by Pipeworks Brewing Company in Chicago. Who better to dedicate this brew to than AEW's Luchasaurus?

We all love 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes. And I think most of you will love Hand of Fate's Dream Cream Ale. This beer is pretty damn good. Check out the video on the latest Wrestling Under the Influence. If you try it, let me know what you think!

Wrestling Under the Influence: Chino & The Slackers and Orange Cassidy

By Kevin Hunsperger

@kevinhunsperger & @my123cents on Twitter Listen to the podcast Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I'm slacking on this week's episode. That's because I have a can of Chino & The Slackers from Logboat Brewing Company in Columbia, Missouri. In addition to reviewing the IPA, I talk about everyone's favorite slacker, Orange Cassidy.

Wrestling Under the Influence: Wort & The 8 Bits and WWF Arcade Games

By Kevin Hunsperger @kevinhunsperger & @my123cents on Twitter Listen to the podcast  Follow my blog with Bloglovin

The 80s were such a great time. We'd fill our pockets with quarters and head to the arcade. Some of my favorite games to play at that time were WWF Superstars and WWF WrestleFest.

This week on Wrestling Under the Influence, I'm talking about those old school games because I'm drinking Wort & the 8-Bits beer from Main and Mill Brewing Company in Festus, Missouri. This is a great beer. Check out the review on YouTube and please subscribe!

AUDIO: Wrestling Under the Influence

@kevinhunsperger & @my123cents on Twitter

Pity Party, table for one. That is how this podcast may sound to some. However, that is not my intent. I had big plans for this week’s show since it falls on 4/20. You can read between the lines on who I wanted as my guest…
That being said, my attempts to get Rob Van Dam on the show turned into another failed experiment. So that got my brain churning and I thought, why not review a beer in my fridge called Mad Scientist Milkshake IPA. It’s from the Experimental Series by Witchita Brewing Company. You can visit their website here.
So this week you’ll hear me kinda rant and complain about the guests who I’d always wanted but never got. I also review the beer and share some thoughts on other aspects of pro wrestling.

AUDIO: Wrestling Under the Influence

@kevinhunsperger & @my123cents on Twitter

The Goobledly Gooker is one of pro wrestling most awesomely bad gimmicks. Since it's Thanksgiving season, I decided to talk more about the angle and drink a wonderful Thanksgiving-themed beer on the latest Wrestling Under the Influence. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

Wrestling Under the Influence is quickly becoming my favorite edition of the My 1-2-3 Cents podcast. However, this month I was drinking alone. That'll change though. Time got away from me.

But anyway, this month I try Belching Beaver Brewery's Me So Honey Blonde. Give the show a listen and let me know what else we should be trying on the show. Listen here.

AUDIO: Wrestling Under the Influence: Bret Hart

@kevinhunsperger & @my123cents on Twitter

Bret Hart is an icon. He's one of the all-time greats. Now he has a craft beer loosely based on him. Brett the Hipman Hop is made by Against the Grain Brewery and Smokehouse in Louisville, Kentucky. The company recently sent me a bottle to sample for the podcast.

And that's just what I did with former Stride Pro Wrestling champion Roger Matheus. We drink the beer and share memories of the Hitman in the process. Check it out here.

Cheers to International Beer Day

@kevinhunsperger & @my123cents on Twitter

August 3 is International Beer Day. Beer and pro wrestling seemingly go hand in hand. On the My 1-2-3 Cents podcast, I've started a series called Wrestling Under the Influence, which reminds me, I need to get another episode of that up soon.

Cheers to Broken Skull IPA
In recent years I've started drinking more craft beer and enjoy visiting breweries whenever we're on the road. It's part of my experiences with the Craftbeericans that has opened my eyes to many different kinds of beer. Thanks to my buddy Tom Harness, I've even had "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's Broken Skull IPA. I'm not a huge fan of IPAs usually, but this one is pretty damn good.

For this post, I'm going to chat about a few wrestlers I'd enjoy sharing a beer with. It goes without saying my friends on the Stride Pro Wrestling roster are all on that list. But someone I am really looking forward to having a beer with and doing a podcast is Ax Allwardt. He's a man's man when it comes to swigging brews. He's a master with the 12-ounce curls but puts the work in the gym throwing the heavy weight around too. I know we'll get together sooner rather than later when our schedules allow.

Of course Stone Cold is on my list too. What? Austin is a goal to have on an episode of 'Another Round with Tom and Kevin' too. He's arguably the biggest Superstar of all-time and sitting down with him just for one beer would be a once in a lifetime experience. I'd love to pick his brain on a number of topics, but just having a chance to sit and talk with a legend like Austin would be amazing.

The Rock
The same can be said for the Rock. To me, there is no one cooler in the world than the Rock. He's come so far in his career and has become a major influencer in not just pro wrestling but Hollywood and beyond. Who knows, he could become a player in the world of politics in the future. I thought I was the shit when he liked a tweet of mine a few years ago.

Who's on your list of sharing a beer with? And don't forget, Stride Pro Wrestling returns Saturday night, Aug. 4 at John A. Logan College in Carterville. Bell time is 6:30 p.m.

Introducing Call of Nature Boy

Call of Nature Boy checking out the Eclipse

I recently purchased several Mystery Mini figures from a seller on Instagram. The lot include "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Sting, Goldust, Andre the Giant, Iron Sheik and the Undertaker. I really dig these toys and as a tribute to my all time favorite wrestler, I decided to create an Instagram page featuring the Flair figure. It's called Call of Nature Boy, an attempted play on the Nature Boy nickname. Here are the pics I've posted so far, which include a recent road trip through Nashville en route to Gulf Shores.

What I love about Fridays

@kevinhunsperger & @my123cents on Twitter
Follow my blog with Bloglovin

"It's Friday, Friday gonna get down on Friday." -- Rebecca Black
"Last Friday night, yeah I think we broke the law." -- Katy Perry
"Everybody's working for the weekend." -- Loverboy

I'm trying to incorporate a new line of thinking that I shouldn't look forward to Friday solely based on the fact that it marks the end of the work week. It's a mantra Gary Vee has adopted. But when you get up at 1:25 a.m., it's hard not to look forward to two days of sleeping in each week. That's just one of the reasons I like Friday though. There are a few others that top my list.

Craft Beer Friday
My buddy Tom Harness started Craft Beer Friday at his company Harness Digital Marketing a few years ago. Since he's moved his office to downtown Carterville, I've headed over nearly every week for some brew and conversation. It also gives us a chance to record an episode of The Craftbeericans from time to time.

Good times at The Annex (RIP)
Many years ago the News 3 This Morning crew started going out for breakfast on Fridays. The Breakfast Club leaves work after the last GMA cut in is over.It's a tradition that has stood the test of time starting with Subway and evolving to countless other restaurants in the Marion-Herrin-Carterville-Carbondale area.

Napping. If there's one day of the week I'm certain to get a nap it's on Friday. I usually try to do that in case we go out that night or have a football game, band performance or cheer event to attend.

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard is my favorite podcast. A new show drops each Friday. I look forward to 11 a.m. each week and plan my longer runs for Fridays just because of that show.

Ultimate Warrior socks

Funky Socks Friday is a new gimmick I have on my Facebook page. A friend of mine, Jason Shadowen, started the movement. It's kinda like Nerd Shirt Thursday, but with socks. However, I'm running low and need to add to my supply.

What's your Friday tradition? Post here. Have a great weekend.
