More than a year after his last match, Red Daniels is speaking out and he's not happy. The former Stride Pro Wrestling tag team champion lost a Buried Alive match to Chris Hargas in Dec. 2017.
He's not been seen since that night. However, he updates Stride Pro Wrestling fans on what he's been up to and things got a little tense at times. Watch more here:

A new feature on the YouTube Channel. I'm answering one question at a time in a quick video. My plan is to keep these clips to five minutes or less.
QUESTION: "The success of 'All In' and ROH/NJPW selling out MSG over WrestleMania weekend has fans saying wrestling and wrestlers can succeed without WWE. If the Bullet Club members end up going to WWE in January, will that have a negative effect on Indy wrestling?" - @chadsmart

Name that monkey

So more than two years ago I came up with the idea of naming the My 1-2-3 Cents monkey. I viewed it as a way to better build the brand with a long-term goal of rolling out some merchandise with his likeness on it. The really long term I'm thinking stuffed animals and an animated series on Netflix and a balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, but I'm getting way ahead of myself.
But I am serious about getting some sort of name on the monkey. I recently opened a store with Pro Wrestling Tees (shop through Monday, Sept. 3 and save 20% on your purchase #cheapplug). Right now there's one shirt available, but I am working on some other designs and I think with the right name it an help with some ideas as well as lead to more branding opportunities.
I'm also bringing it up again because the My 1-2-3 Cents blog, podcast and YouTube channel (yeah it's still there) have all seen a growth in consumers. So with more eyeballs on this post, I figure more ideas will flow. And when I first presented this idea two years ago, I was still writing both pro wrestling and personal blogs on under the My 1-2-3 Cents banner. That has changed since the birth of Kevin Hunsblogger. The monkey will completely represent the pro wrestling brand.

I got some good suggestions last time, including Monsoon, Jitter and Mondo. Please don't suggest Spanks. Half of the comments were that in 2016. 😃But I would appreciate your 1-2-3 cents on the issue. While we're at it, if you have merchandise suggestions let me know. What would you buy with the monkey on it? Thanks as always.

The birthday blog

September 3, 2010 I launched My 1-2-3 Cents and wrote my first blog here called The Opening Match. I'd been blogging on other platforms for a couple of years, but not with any consistency. I decided to start a wrestling blog at the urging of my friend and blogging guru, Jeff Rose.
I don't know if I've ever explained the name of the blog. It's a play off the phrase "my two cents". In wrestling a referee counts 1-2-3. In my attempt to be clever I mashed the two ideas together and six years later that's what we have. Most of the things written here are opinion and not "wrestling news." I don't have the time or resources to have a news site.
While wrestling is still the primary focus of this blog, a few years ago I added "pop culture" and "life" to the categories. Stories about my childhood and high school years seem to resinate among readers. Over the last year I've expanded my blogging to go beyond this page and I'm writing blogs for other people now (if you're interested send me an email). Writing has become one of my favorite things to do.
My 1-2-3 Cents has grown over the last six years, not just in readers though. In addition to the blog here, there's a weekly podcast on the Jittery Monkey Podcasting Network that is 100% wrestling related. The YouTube channel is not as robust as it once was, but I am working on some ideas for that. Then there's social media sites like Instagram, Twitter (@my123cents) and Facebook.
As social media and technology evolve, so do my ideas for My 1-2-3 Cents and blogging in general. Thanks to all of you for the support and stay tuned, new things are on the horizon!

Don't be Garfield, embrace Monday

More often than not when Sunday night gets here I start dreading Monday morning. Admit it, you probably do to. If you don't, I applaud you. My favorite feline, Garfield, has hated Mondays for nearly 40 years. But now I am trying to look at the glass as being half full or in Garfield's case, the lasagna pan. Embrace Monday and look at it as a fresh start to set and achieve new goals.

Entrepreneur, author and internet personality Gary Vaynerchuk has said on his shows to stop living for Friday night. It makes sense. We have to create our own happiness. I don't dread Mondays because I hate my job or my life. I just want more. The reality is my life is half over and there's a lot still left for me to do. Creating a life where you don't hate Mondays and just live for the weekends will make you and those around you more happy.

| Work family on National Selfie Day |
My alarm goes off at 1:25 a.m. Monday through Friday. I love my job and my coworkers. I'm doing more after work hours that I enjoy too. I don't come home and nap or veg out online for hours on end anymore. Blogging, podcasting and creating YouTube videos and other content for My 1-2-3 Cents (and others) have become my new norm. Pair that up with doing things around the house (not as much as I should be) and spending quality time with the family and it makes for many long days.

| Focused on blogging |
But I wouldn't trade it for anything. Slowly but surely I am achieving my goals in the blogging world and still working hard in my career as a journalist. The only thing I wish for now is more hours in the day. Since that's not going to happen, I've eliminated some of the time wasting activities from my life and focused more on what's important. So if I don't respond to a Words with Friends request or know what's happening on the latest TV show; you'll understand. Thanks to all who have had my back along the way. It's a team effort.

I made it on The Rock's YouTube channel...

I have been waiting on pins and needles for nine days to find out if I was one of 32 finalists in the Rock the Promo contest on the Rock's YouTube channel. Contestants had to submit a 45 second video with a character and make certain points in their promo. The field was narrowed to the final 32 which were revealed earlier today on YouTube. As I watched the video I got excited for a minute when a quick cut of my character made it on screen. But I was part of the rejects, much like the early episodes each season on American Idol.
My character is one I've actually been wanting to introduce to the My 1-2-3 Cents supporters for some time. His name is LuchaDad. Up until now I had no creative way to make that happen. But thanks to the Rock's contest, LuchaDad and his 10 year old LuchaDaughter are out in the open. Doing this forced me out of my comfort zone (yes I have one believe it or not) and has got my creative wheels spinning for future projects. My 45 second submission is below.
I chose the bathrobe instead of a fancy wrestling robe because I'm a dad. I told a cheesy "dad joke" thanks to my high school friend Jodi for that one. And I used the belt as my intimidating look because who didn't fear a belt spanking as a child? The Padre Island reference is to keep with the dad/Latino gimmick I'm working.
While I didn't make it into the top 32, I did make it onto the Rock's YouTube channel which not many people will likely ever be able to say. Take a look at the others involved, my one second of fame comes in at 1:28 on the video below. Thanks to the Rock and his team for the opportunity and for using part of my video in the montage. Also thanks to my "LuchaDaughter" for being such a good sport. Also good luck to the final 32!

On a recent #AskGaryVee Show he posed this question to listeners. "What would you tell yourself if you went back in time 10 years and could give that person advice?" I instantly knew exactly what I'd say.
Backstory:
Ten years ago I was 33 years old. I was MySpace savvy. I hadn't signed up for Facebook nor Twitter at that point. I'm not even sure if Facebook was even available to the non-college crowd yet. Twitter was in its infancy and I wouldn't start tweeting for another three years. Blogging was a thing, but I dismissed it big time. But by summer 2006 I had started doing it through the app on MySpace. YouTube had been around just over a year. Now that the scene is set, here's my letter to my self.

Dear Kevin:
I'm writing to you from the future. Things are just fine with the family in 2016. Your hair is much more grey now, but having two teenagers and a tween will do that to a person. I'm writing this to tell you to NOT wait to start blogging. You have friends who are doing it. Don't dismiss this idea. It's not a flash-in-the-pan concept. Blogging will actually become a revenue source for you. Starting now will help establish an audience and credibility.
Also, quit watching wrestling videos on YouTube. In a few years WWE will have a whole network of content you can watch everything you've ever wanted. Instead, start creating content on YouTube NOW. It's only been around a year you can be unique and original with your channel and get a good following.

Sign up for Twitter. Yes sounds weird and not many people understand how it works now. But trust me, it will become a valuable tool in marketing your blog and vlog. That pound sign will become a whole new tool too, so understand how it works. You're also going to be doing a podcast eventually. You might as well learn how to do that now and monetize it while the world is still trying to figure out what's up with podcasting.

Good luck and keep your chin up. Oh and when you start getting tweets from some strange guy named @iTomHarness, don't ignore him. He's going to become a great friend and teach you some things about how all this social media stuff works. And put down the Bud Light and try some craft beer. Tom will teach you more about that too, but at least go into it looking like you know something.
See ya in 2016.

On September 3, 2010 I sat down at my computer and created this blog. My friend Jeff Rose had encouraged me to start a wrestling site. Because I had written a blogs before on WordPress and good ol' MySpace, I knew what I was doing. It was about taking the time to share meaningful content and stay consistent.
![]() |
| The first post... |
The blog started off originally just about wrestling. I discovered that people for some reason have an interest in my life, so I started adding posts about the angst I experienced as a teenager. There are also blogs about my family, pop culture and other random topics. It's been a good balance and even though it breaks the conventional blogging practices of creating a niche and sticking to it, I'm proud of what I've accomplished.
I'm grateful to everyone who has read My 1-2-3 Cents, shared it or commented on it. I'm also appreciative to my friends who have written posts to here. Chad of course has been the most consistent and some of his blogs rank among the most read here. More on that in a moment.

| Podcast guests |
I feel like My 1-2-3 Cents has grown from that .blogspot to an actual website. Shortly after I created this, I made a YouTube channel and became a partner with them. I'm still trying to figure out ways to get those videos in front of more people. Last last year I was invited to create a podcast under the My 1-2-3 Cents moniker on the Jittery Monkey Podcasting Network. I'm thankful to Greg Mehochko for that opportunity. Just a few months ago, I've expanded my blogging beyond this site and have been doing freelance work for others. I want to go from opinions about wrestling to more news about the business and interactive features. Stay tune, there's more to come!
Thank you all!

14 Goals for 2014
![]() |
| Running the Carterville Twilight 5K |
@kevinhunsperger & @my123cents on Twitter
As 2013 comes to a close, it's time to look ahead to a new year. I had some fun and success in 2013, with the biggest milestone being turning 40. I also reached my running goal of hitting 500 miles. Now, I'm writing up 14 goals for 2014. I hope by doing this I will be more accountable. I've learned when setting goals or making resolutions, remember KISS (keep it simple and specific).
When December 31, 2014 rolls around, I don't fully expect to have accomplished everything on this list, but I hope to have at least tried. So if you haven't written down your goals for the new year, join me in doing it. You don't have to share it with the world, but at least have something to track your progress. And before I forget, thanks for reading this blog and showing your support through the years.
1. Run a half marathon. Since 2011 I've started running again. In high school I kinda ran Cross Country. Some 20+ years later, I'm running more than I ever have before. In 2013 I hit my goal of running 500 miles. I've competed in two Warrior Dashes, a color run, and multiple 5Ks. It seems the next logical step is a half marathon. My plan as of right now (December 30, 2013) is to run the "Fly With The Eagles" half marathon in February.
![]() |
| Doing DDP Yoga |
3. Reach 750,000 page views on this blog. This is quite a lofty goal. After 3 years and 3 months of blogging, I'm at 405,000 page reads. Part of my plan for 2014 is to write at least 300 blogs. Since changing the focus from wrestling to other areas of life, more readers are checking out my writing (and Chad's when he's inspired to post something).
4. Reach 500,000 views on my YouTube channel. If you haven't already, please subscribe to my YouTube channel. I'm at just over 269,000 right now. I know I shouldn't be so focused on the numbers, but it's something I obsess about all the time. Like the blog, I'm posting about more than just wrestling over there too.
5. Start a Podcast. Now that From the Rafters Radio has officially wrapped up, I'd love to try to do a podcast. My biggest worry at this point is having the time to actually do one and do it right. Stay tuned for more details if this one starts to develop.
![]() |
| An apple a day... |
7. Give up the extra sodas during the week. I am obsessed with fountain Coke Zero with a splash of vanilla flavoring. Earlier in 2013, I had weaned myself off daily sodas and started drinking coffee. I was only drinking soda on Friday and Saturday. But then I got to the point where I was grabbing a soda when I was out on a story or having one on Sunday because I'm so addicted to the caffeine. I know I should give them up completely, and I will work toward that someday, but right now I'm good with cutting myself back to just those two days a week.
8. Watch more wrestling. I know my wife will not want to hear that one, but really, I only watch Monday Night Raw on a regular basis. 2013 I watched very few episodes of SmackDown!, Impact, or NXT. I think to be a wrestling blogger, I should broaden my horizons. I want to see more indy stuff too, but I don't know how realistic that will be in this area.
![]() |
| Holiday World 2012 |
10. Sleep at least six hours a night. Again, I see the conundrum, but I have to make this work. Right now I get about five hours of sleep a night. Some nights it's less. Fewer nights it's more. I think to be able to tackle all these other lofty goals I'm going to have to be well rested and in turn that will help me to function better.
11. Help more with the finances. As I'm writing this, my wife asked "Are you going to add something about helping more with the finances?" So like any smart man I said yes. After all, happy wife, happy life. I am notorious for letting her handle all that stuff. I did finally figure out how the online banking system works and will be helping more in that regard each month. Now, if only there was a way to get more green added to that account.
| Book worm? Hardly |
13. Have more date nights with my wife. Now that are kids are getting older, we don't have the excuse of not wanting to hire a babysitter anymore. I want to spend more time as a couple. Family time is important, but I love when we're able to get out just the two of us. These don't have to be expensive outings either. I'm thinking of simple things we can do that won't cost an arm and a leg.
14. Focus more time on anchoring the news. I've been anchoring the morning news for more than nine years now. Of course through the years, I have improved, but I need to pick up my game. My stumbles need to go away. I'm working hard to accomplish this one.
Okay, that's my 14 goals for 2014. Check back again in a year and hopefully my year in review I'll have checked some of these things of the list. Thanks again for reading and the support.
