Wrestling with discipline

Dexter Roswell and Jerry Travelstead

Years ago spanking in schools was banned. However, an exception to that rule is being made this Friday night at Community Consolidated School 204 in Pinckneyville. For on that night, the school's superintendent and former Stride Pro Wrestling Legacy Champion Jerry "T-Dog" Travelstead will battle Dexter Roswell. This is no ordinary match though. It will be Stride's first Paddle on a Pole match.

The two had words on a recent edition of News 3 This Morning on WSIL-TV in southern Illinois. They compared paddles that morning and it looks like if T-Dog gets to his first, Roswell is in trouble. Not only does he have the bigger paddle, but it's one of those old school ones with the holes drilled into it.

This rivalry has been brewing for a while now. But things really came to a head at the September Fallout when Roswell and his fellow party members attacked T-Dog and The Stone Cold Plumster as they wrestled for the Stride Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championships. Plumlee suffered a concussion as a result. It's understandable that T-Dog wants to get some revenge on Roswell. Since it has to be a singles match, why not start with the leader of the party?

While revenge and the home field advantage will benefit T-Dog, you can't discount the other members of the DR Party and their manager J. Wellington Beauregard. Roswell will stop at nothing to pick up the win and humiliate Travelstead in front of his students and their parents. Expect nothing but a good ol' fashion slobber knocker from these two.

The action comes to Community Consolidated School 204 in Pinckneyville this Friday night. A meet and greet with Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat" starts at 5 p.m. The wrestling action follows starting at 6:30 p.m. Call (618) 357-2419 for ticket information.
