Teaching the rWo a lesson

Disciplinary Action vs. The rWo

There's been an underlying tension between The Ragin' Redneck (now Hollywood Redneck) and 'The Stone Cold Plumster' Josh Plumlee since early this year. The two came to blows at a Stride Pro Wrestling benefit show in Christopher, Illinois in March. Then in May, as Plumlee (a teacher at Community Consolidated School Dist. 204 in Pinckneyville) was teaming with high school principal Tony Wilson, Redneck, who was the special guest referee, turned on the educators.
Wilson for the pin
Despite the despicable act, Disciplinary Action overcame the challenge and beat the DR Party that night. Now the duo is looking for revenge. Wilson and Plumlee are teaming up once again, this time their target is the Redneck World Order. Hollywood Redneck and Cole James are the former Stride tag team champions. They'll go into battle this Saturday night at CCSD 204.

rWo wins the gold
Redneck has been running his mouth since Stride's return in August. Now that he has the backing of the rWo, he's been even mouthier than usual. You must also factor that third man in the group who will be lurking outside the ring. Disciplinary Action may be a new unit, but Wilson and Plumlee work well together. They'll take their positive attitude and cohesiveness into battle. That could tip the scales in their favor, no matter how many rWo members show up.

It's time for the Redneck to learn some respect. I have no doubt Plumlee and Wilson are ready to teach him some. Join us Saturday night (Oct. 6). Bell time is at 6:30, but a meet & greet with Impact Wrestling star Abyss begins at 5. We'll see you there.

Rednecks rule!

The rWo wins

I've been a pro wrestling fan for more than 35 years. In that time I've seen some shocking title changes. The Honky Tonk Man pinning Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat for the Intercontinental Title left me speechless. Then in 1991 Sgt. Slaughter stunned me when he beat the Ultimate Warrior for the WWF Title and there's Ronnie Garvin's 1987 NWA Championship victory over Ric Flair.

New champs
But Saturday night may have been the biggest shocker of them all. The newly formed Redneck World Order, in their first tag team match, won the Stride Pro Wrestling tag team championships. Hollywood Redneck and "The Bad Guy" Cole James beat The Midwest Monster Hunters and the DR Party in a triple threat match.

I should make it clear there was plenty of cheating going on from all three teams. The Monster Hunters, DR Party and rWo are all heel factions in Stride Pro Wrestling. The action spilled out of the ring at one point and there were members of the DR Party and rWo fighting outside the ring that didn't even belong in the match.

Late in the match, rWo's outside man grabbed one of the tag belts and used it to knock Bo Sawyer out of the ring. There were other shenanigans going on and Redneck scored the pin. Just like that new champs were crowned.

But it's not going to be an easy ride for the rWo, even if they institute the 'Freebird rule' when it comes to defending their gold. There are several talented and hungry tag teams on the roster. It's not just the Monster Hunters and DR Party wanting a shot. Look out for other teams on the horizon. Even tandems the Stride Pro Wrestling fans haven't seen yet...

Black & white attack: it's the rWo

I've talked before here about the Ragin' Redneck. He arrived on the scene in Stride Pro Wrestling in late 2017 before taking on the red and yellow persona of Hulk Hogan. RedneckMania was born and despite his love and admiration for the Hulkster, his win-loss record did not reflect that of his mentor's.

That's when a change occurred. RedneckMania was a special guest referee for a tag team match between the DR Party and Josh Plumlee and Tony Wilson. During the course of the match he turned on the good guys and attempted to help the DR Party win. Those efforts didn't work and the educators ended up winning.

When RedneckMania returned to Stride in August, gone was the red and yellow. Instead the black and white were on display and a few henchmen were in tow. Hollywood Redneck snatched the mic and announced the Redneck World Order was taking over Stride.

"The Bad Guy" Cole James and Hollywood will join forces and challenge for the Stride Pro Wrestling tag team titles. The Midwest Monster Hunters are the current champs. Former champs the DR Party will also be involved. Three of the most hated factions in the company will collide. It'll be interesting to see who comes out on top of this three-way championship match.

You can see all the action this Saturday night. We'll be a part of the Carterville Free Fair. Bell time for the Free Fair Faceoff is 6:30 p.m. at the Carterville Community Center.
