"I see dead people." It's a great movie quote and one I often think of whenever Wraith steps into the ring for Stride Pro Wrestling. The word wraith by the way is "a ghost or ghostlike image of someone, especially one seen shortly before or after their death."
When Wraith first debuted in January 2018, he took the company by storm. He dominated the Stride Cup Tournament and won the first ever event along with the Legacy Title on the same night. He defended that belt for the better part of the year before losing it in a four-way ladder match in October.
Then Wraith started to spiral. Not only did he lose the belt, he lost his number one disciple, Ryzer. The two were a great pairing but Ryzer wanted to distance himself from the 'dead man' and create his own identity. Wraith has made a few appearances since March's first blood loss against Ryzer.
Most notably this Saturday night Wraith is in for a first time experience. He will get a shot at he Stride Pro Wrestling Heavyweight TItle. Champion Red Daniels won the belt at Strideversary in March and has done an outstanding job defending it, chalking up victories over "The King" Chris Hargas and former multi-time champion Heath Hatton.
Wraith presents a unique challenge to Daniels as pound for pound it'll be his biggest competition to date. Wraith hasn't been the same though since his days with Ryzer ended. I can't wait to see this match and what's next for both competitors.
Bell time is 6:30 at the Stride Building in Carterville. We'll see you there!
